Tishman Construction Corp. of D.C. and AECOM Technology Corp. has won a $16 million contract to provide construction-management services for the first phase of the Department of Homeland Security headquarters at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Southeast D.C.
The Tishman-AECOM joint venture will manage the new Coast Guard headquarters, parking structure, co-generation plant, and infrastructure projects.
New York City-based Tishman Construction’s local projects in the area include 5.3 million square feet of new construction for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in White Oak, Md. and on-going general contracting assignments for the National Institutes of Health at its Bethesda campus.
The new DHS site — the General Services Administration’s largest project since the Pentagon — will consolidate DHS’s 35-plus offices in the National Capitol Region and save an estimated $163 million over the next 30 years.
Clark Construction Group LLC, WDG Architecture and HOK hold a $435 million design-build contract for the first phase, which has an occupancy date of 2013. All phases of the endeavor, estimated to be $3 billion to $4 billion, are scheduled to wrap up during 2016.
